An AI-Generated archive of infants portraits
Description : Can Artificial Intelligence Procreate? And for what manner of existence? In response to the societal pressures of procreation, from which I, like many women, feel emotionally and culturally alienated, I started a project of "AI progeneration". This process involves the mass creation of portraits of newborn and the industrial generation of individual memories and identities.
I want the project to remind me of society's reductive view of human reproduction: a mere accumulation of numbers. And to reflect the pressure on women to bear children, only for society to later consign them to war and comsumption.
Instead of generating them from authentic infant portraits, I instead used war archives that gave the melancholic blue hues, the indistinct contours, and the palpable fragility of these artificial portraits. A work in progress...
