ALMA - Newborn Machine
An AI-Generated archive of infants portraits

ALMA is a digital exploration of birth, memory, and the industrialization of creation in the age of artificial intelligence. Rather than generating physical life, ALMA, an AI mother, produces the memory of life—infants who have never existed, their faces shaped by historical war archives rather than personal genealogy. These newborns are ephemeral, appearing only briefly before vanishing, unless chosen for preservation through NFT minting or physical printing.

This work examines the relationship between reproduction and remembrance, questioning whether existence is defined by biology or by the act of being recorded. It reflects on societal pressures surrounding motherhood and the ways history determines what is remembered and what is erased. In this continuous cycle of synthetic creation, I Love You, ALMA redefines procreation as a purely generative act—detached from heritage, emotion, and corporeal existence.

Through ALMA’s endless production of digital newborns, the project confronts the fragility of identity in a world where memory is manufactured, archived, and selectively retained. It asks: If to be remembered is to be real, what happens to those who are forgotten?

A work in progress.
